‘In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. By Time, indeed humanity is in a state of loss. Except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of truth and in the mutual teaching of patience’ (Surah al-`Asr, 103:1-3)
"Professional Architect lives almost by faith. When called upon he can do the job without fear or favour. He possesses aspecialized skill and lives by a code of ethics cloaked in honour andintegrity. He is expected to speak his mind and give his views. Whenfaced with absolute wrong, he can resolutely disagree and walk away." quote from THE PROFESSIONAL MAN by Ar Dr Tan Loke Mun PRESIDENT PAM

E-BULLETIN

Final design

This is an e-bulletin designed for RGP marketing strategy. The purpose of this e-bulletin is to publish the latest news about RGP to our existing clients and potential future client.

The bulletin is composed in only one page to provide brief news of the month. This monthly news will then be compiled for RGP's seasonal news booklet.

First Option

This first option was designed by another colleague of mine in the office. At first I was shown the design of the layout. The director gave the same brief for me to work on another option. He decided not to show me the design in order to get another fresh idea without referring to the first option.

For many of us this could be a competition which they'd fight to win. But for me not knowing the look of the first option gives me more freedom in design. Instead of worrying whether my design would be chosen or not, or to follow the previous company CV's design or any formal format of design, I was simply having fun producing a 'fresh' design.
Second Option

As a result, the e-bulletin that I produced is out of RGP's design norm. When the director revealed the first option, I was expecting a very formal format design. Although the director feels excited about my option, he still feels comfortable with the first option (formal design). However, instead of choosing any particular one from the two options it is a good idea to combine both design elements to produce the best option.

The final design is composed in In-Design publishing software. This is another good software that I'd recently learnt and currently practiced to produce excellent presentation.

During this small exercise I've learnt and proved that creativity should be explored with greater freedom. There should be less or no restriction on ideas. Only after creativity has grown that it could then be moulded towards the requirements.

BUKIT KUDA BOOKLET

This is a freelance graphic work for development in Klang. It was an advertisement exercise to suite marketing purposed. The design was done for a small handy booklet size. I then made a sample of the actual booklet. Although many people seem to think that "marketing" and "advertising" are synonymous, they are not. Advertising is simply one of the many processes that together constitute marketing. resource from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marketing

I admired people who do marketing. They have the ability to persuade people. To push people for something that benefits them. To change somebody's mind from not believing on something to believing it by heart.

The photos used were samples taken from the Internet. If the client agrees only then would we buy the images from the image provider. But of course I never did so because it was UNPUBLISHED work. I lost the bid to another advertisement company that is more experience than me. I knew about my competitor but I still did the job as a favour to my client's request. I shouldn’t do that in the first place if I feel that there's no guarantee of getting the job. It would just be a waste of time. And time in most business thinker's mind equals to money; TIME=MONEY.

However, I took the opportunity to explore something new and to enrich my portfolio. Therefore; TIME = EXPERIENCE. This loss was then covered back by another job from the same client. Art and graphics are my second nature. That’s probably why I enjoy doing it even for unpaid work. I take passion as a reward instead.

That's why Richard Brindley (RIBA director of practice) commented on "why do architects earn so much less than surveyors and project managers, let alone lawyers and doctors? He Said:
"...architects are generally less motivated by money and are attracted to creativity of architecture as a passion and vocation than as a professional career."

THE MAKING OF 7511

It is kind of frustrating for me and to all the "starring actors" for the project. Its almost done. But well you know it is a design development, and sometimes client change their mind!

As for me I need to report my time spent on the job so that they could estimate cost and not exceed the budget limit. I don't mind with the changes as long it turn out to be better design. But on the management issues this are important matter to be highlighted. TIME = COST

However I cannot release yet till it finalised to the client. Till then I'll keep busy updated previous work.

RGP PROJECT PALLATE

This is an alternative design proposal for RGP office's brochures. The firm is trying to prepare a fresh new look on the company profile. There are also several other alternative being prepared by advertising company. However, this design is quite interesting because it is similar to the architects' colour card. In addition this design should also reflect the "colours" of the company. Each project starts with the brief pallate then followed by images or perspective collection and the third slide is the best piece of art for the project.

A'kum kengkawan,Sorry sebab all this while aku cuma memerhati je dr monitor pc.Tapi kali ni aku terpanggil untuk mereply kepada soalan paklan ni.Cogan kata yg ko letak tu memamg kedengaran agak heavy, tp meaningfulsebenarnya.Aku suggest kalau kita just stick to BERSATU.BERJASA.Lagipun perkataan "membantu" tu somehow akan reflect kepada "berjasa"jugak.Hanya idea dr aku. a'kum...lan,
pasal sticker tu, org tu baru call, dia bg tahu, ada revised rate..the lowest he can gives is rm4.5/pcs. kalau i minta kecilkan size pun dia ckp rate tu jugak..sbbnya the method yg digunakan.. kalau ikutkan design tu, dia kena guna separation sbb ada tone...unless kalau dia guna spot sahaja...so boleh dpt price yg dia ckp sebelum ni... lg satu, kalau betul nak dia buat, dia minta original soft copy sbb dia tak boleh nak design mcm tu.... aku rasa, aku patut bawak kau jumpa dialah...macam mana? call aku bila kau dah balik mesia.....kedai tu bukak weekdays until 8 mlm n saturday until 6 ptg. ahad tutup...pastu dia perlukan lebih kurang 7-10 days nak siapkan semua...ok...bye...oh ye... aku nak coklat dr UK......

OPTION 1
OPTION 2 -design development

Back in early days again- 15 June 2005

The works are done just for the sake of charity and it is FOC. Sometimes we need to put away the money issues and spent some effort to make your life worth more to others. It helps to reduce the "rat race" trap in the future.

Institute of Early Years Development (IEYD) - logo design

THE DESIGN PROCESS, 6th January 2006
Pleminary studies on various logo subjects
First development

The institute name composition studies

Colour option studies

The final artwork
THE IDEA
The new logo image was initially generated from the direct use of the acronym of the institute, IEYD. These letters were then creatively illustrated to create unique formation of the acronym to represent the development of children's mind.
The logo resembles the formation of a child and its brain.
Our unique illustration of the institute's acronym has indirectly created a few optical illusion images such as images of a man, brain, leave, fish, spectacles and other images that may differ according to their perceptions and interpretations.
The illustration of this logo which was initiated from
direct interpretation of the institute's acronym could then be translated into a complex definitions.

MURUBOND colour card

This was the design palette that I made to replace the previous palette brochure. But this brochure was just to cover the paint colours that are readily supply by Murobond Malaysia. Personally, I prefer the previous brochure. I think this is the result of cost-cutting practice, instead of putting a few pages to explain about the product offerings, everything was cramped into just a piece of paper. Not to mention the different quality of paper used making it look cheaper. Never mind that, at least I learn to manage things within the cost limit. I'm sure we are going to face cost-factor situation in most of our implementation stage of our so called 'design'.
